A person is a person through other persons;
you can’t be human in isolation;
you are human only in relationships

Relationships with Others
Child & Adolescent Counseling
I work with children elementary to young adults who are dealing with emotional, behavioral and relational concerns. Concerns vary from depression and anxiety, ADHD and school concerns, social and family issues and grief and loss due to death, divorce and changes. I have worked with children and adolescents for over 20 years in outpatient, day treatment and group home settings. I utilize play therapy as a means for children to express feelings and concerns and for adolescents to engage in more than talk therapy. Meaningful themes are expressed through play. Some adolescents benefit from counseling that integrates the use of art and games as traditional talk therapy is difficult and overwhelming to them.
Family Counseling
Family counseling can include any combination of family. Some examples are parent/s with a child or children, siblings together, adult child with parents, grandparent with grandchildren. I have been trained in a family systems perspective that values the impact and importance of family as it relates to individuals. Family counseling is valuable as you hear from different perspectives and observe dynamics and interactions between family members to work on family and individual goals and concerns.
Couples/Marital Counseling
Couples and marital counseling is available for a dating, engaged or married couples. I have worked with couples in regards to conflict resolution and anger management, problem solving and communication, and parenting. I integrate education regarding strategies and skills along with empathy and greater insight into the meaning of feelings and behaviors. Looking at family of origin and patterns in relationships is integrated as well.
